The Limestone District School Board hosts more than 120 international students each year from countries such as Brazil, Italy, China, Thailand, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Spain, Turkey, Vietnam, and others. Some students come for one semester (5 months), to improve their English and experience living in a new culture. Others come for a longer period in order to prepare for entering a Canadian college or university.  Some students study for 4 weeks.  We are often looking for homestay families for all lengths of stay.

Host families provide international students with the support that parents normally provide their own children:

- A nurturing family environment while students study in Kingston.
- A private bedroom, equipped with a bed, desk, and appropriate storage space.
- Three nutritious meals per day.
- Transportation to activities around Kingston, when necessary.

Host families are compensated with a monthly stipend of $850/month paid to them directly by the Limestone District School Board.

Hosting an international student is a highly rewarding experience. Many life-long friendships have developed out of Limestone's international student homestay program.

We are currently inviting families, especially those who live in Amherstview, East Kingston (included Hwy 2 and Greenwood Park), Central Kingston (Polson Park and Strathcona Park), West Kingston (including Bayridge, Henderson Place, Waterloo Village, Woodhaven, Cat Woods, Auden Park and Collin's Bay) and Downtown, to join our pool of homestay providers.
